This Week in Music- Past, Present and Future!
Did you know that on this day in 1958 Johnny Cash made his debut in the US country chart? Or that this Tuesday marks the anniversary of John’s Lennon’s final concert appearance at Madison Square Gardens in 1974? It may be a mundane and rainy Sunday in Altrincham but it’s a busy week in Music History, and the start of an eventful week at The Music Place, as we make history in our own small way!
Just as the Beatles famously performed a lunchtime show at The Cavern Club on 1st December 1961, our fabulous Music Place Choir take the stage at Manchester Cathedral this Friday to wow the crowds with some Christmas tunes! Friends of the Music Place can also join the choir as they perform at the Altrincham Lantern Parade on 2nd December.
41 years ago this Sunday, an estimated three and a half million people applied for ABBA’s forthcoming British Albert Hall concerts … this week, we anticipate similar interest in our Music Place Christmas Choir cracker! Join us on 3rd December in celebrating a choir extravaganza for the history books!
The weather might be gloomy but, as American post-punk band, Timbuk 3, once wrote, ‘the future’s so bright, I gotta wear shades.’
Have a lovely week everyone!
