Les Chisnall.

An early bloomer, pianist, Les, began playing the organ aged 11 and immediately began improvising! Throughout his career, this improvisation and compositional flare has proved central, especially in the contemporary classical field.  Les has written music for orchestra, piano, organ and choir and has worked with some of the finest musicians including Kenny Wheeler, John Taylor, Mike Walker, Andy Schofield, Richard Iles, Steve Berry and Ian Ballamy. In addition to his extensive career as jazz pianist and composer, Les has taught for many years. He currently holds the post of Professor of Jazz Piano and improvisation and Chetham’s School of Music and Professor of Jazz Piano at Leeds College of Music and has lectured at LIPA and the RNCM. We’re really excited to have him back at the Jazz Summer School this year.
